ABB and CerilonSoft Sign Automation and Power Collaboration MoU
ABB and CerilonSoft signed an MoU on 22 October 2026 to explore integrated automation, electrification and digital solutions for process and power projects.
ABB and CerilonSoft signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 22 October 2026. The companies will explore joint work on industrial process and power-generation projects.
The announcement covers greenfield and brownfield facilities. It combines ABB automation, electrification, and digital technology with CerilonSoft engineering and asset-management services.
What the agreement covers
The parties may develop integrated process and power solutions for energy facilities. ABB also identified behind-the-meter power generation for data centers as one possible area.
ABB will provide front-end design services for Cerilon GTL’s first gas-to-liquids plant. The companies intend to use that work when developing later process and power solutions.
The release also mentions AI-driven digital technology. It does not name a controller family, DCS version, power-control platform, or standard package.
Why the front-end phase matters
Automation and electrical choices made during front-end design affect later interface work. Teams must define control ownership, network boundaries, power-system data, alarm priorities, and acceptance criteria before detailed engineering.
A combined process and power scope can reduce late interface changes. It can also create new integration risks if data ownership is unclear.
Procurement teams should therefore wait for project-specific bills of material. The MoU is not a product launch or a confirmed hardware order.
Checks for plant engineering teams
- Identify which party owns process control, electrical control, and data integration.
- Define interfaces between power-generation equipment and the plant control system.
- Separate proposal-stage capabilities from contracted deliverables.
- Require named platforms, software versions, cyber controls, and test responsibilities.
- Confirm spare-parts and lifecycle obligations before standardizing a design.
ABB says the initial work will target Canada before wider opportunities. No deployment schedule or contract value was announced.
