The 11 mm probe offers double the linear range of a standard 8 mm probe. This makes it ideal for axial position (thrust) measurements where shaft movement can exceed 2 mm. Ensure the target area on the shaft is at least 30.5 mm (1.2 in) in diameter to maintain the calibrated scale factor.

Mounting Clearances:

Due to the larger tip diameter, the 11 mm probe requires greater side clearance to prevent "side-view" interference from neighboring metallic surfaces. A minimum of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) clearance around the probe tip is required. For M16 x 1.5 threads, the recommended mounting torque is 24.5 N·m (18 lb·ft).

System Loop Matching:

The 3300 XL 11 mm probe is part of a tuned circuit. This 1.0-metre probe must be used with a 3300 XL 11 mm extension cable to achieve a total length of 5.0 or 9.0 metres, matching the calibration of the Proximitor sensor. Mixing 11 mm components with 8 mm or 5 mm components will result in total system failure or massive measurement errors.

Q: What is the nominal DC gap voltage for the 11 mm system?

A: For a 3300 XL 11 mm system, the center of the linear range is typically reached at -10.0 Vdc. Adjust the mechanical gap during installation until the Proximitor output reaches this value.

Q: What should I do if the "OK" light on the monitor is off?
