Ground switching (negative switching) is often required when interfacing with specific electronic components or third-party manifolds that utilize a common positive rail. The EL2889 acts as the switch to the 0 V DC potential, completing the circuit for the connected load.

How is the wiring performed on the HD (High Density) housing?

The module uses a spring-actuated mechanism. You insert a small screwdriver into the designated slot to open the spring, insert the solid or ferruled conductor, and remove the screwdriver to secure the connection. This provides a vibration-resistant, gas-tight contact.

Can the EL2889 drive inductive loads like solenoid valves?

Yes. The module is rated for inductive loads. However, ensure that the breaking energy per channel does not exceed 100 mJ. For very large inductive loads, external suppressors may be recommended to extend the module's operational lifespan.


Engineering & Installation Guide

  • Wiring Standards: For the 16-channel HD housing, use a stripping length of 8 to 9 mm. Ensure that no stray wire strands are visible outside the terminal to prevent cross-channel short circuits in the high-density contact area.

  • Power Contact Loading: The power contacts are rated for a maximum of 10 A. When daisy-chaining multiple EL2889 modules, calculate the total simultaneous current draw. If the 10 A limit is approached, a new power feed terminal (such as an EL9011) must be inserted to prevent overheating of the internal power bars.

  • Thermal Management: The extended operating temperature range of -25 to +60 Celsius allows for flexible placement. However, in high-density DIN rail configurations, ensure at least 10 mm of clearance from heat-producing components to maintain optimal switching speeds and reliability of the internal polycarbonate housing.
