Product Description

Description

The ABB IMSET01 is a specialized Sequence of Events (SOE) Timing module designed for the Symphony Enterprise Management and Control System. This sequence of events timing module processes up to 16 digital field inputs while simultaneously receiving and decoding critical time synchronization link information sent from an INTKM01 Time Keeper Master module. Digital state transitions, which are transitions of a digital signal from either on to off or from off to on, are collected at the Harmony Control Unit (HCU) level by the module and then forwarded to an INSEM01 Sequence of Events Master module for precise distributed event monitoring, recording, and reporting.

Operating over the I/O expander bus, the ABB IMSET01 interfaces SOE data and configures input channels via specific function codes executed by the associated Harmony controller. Each input channel is optically isolated to protect system integrity, allowing individual configuration across several operational voltage types. Only one module of this type can operate on a single I/O expander bus segment, managing localized synchronization termination and field wiring via dedicated cable links to termination units.

Features

  • 16 Digital Field Inputs: Processes up to 16 individual digital input channels for comprehensive state transition tracking.
  • Time Synchronization Decoding: Integrates a built-in communication interface to receive and decode time synchronization link data from the master time source.
  • Optical Channel Isolation: Features high-grade optical isolation between channels and the system, as well as channel-to-channel isolation.
  • Programmable Voltage Compatibility: Each channel can be individually configured for 24 VDC, 48 VDC, 125 VDC, or 120 VAC operational levels.
  • Expander Bus Communication: Communicates directly with its designated Harmony controller over the standard I/O expander bus segment.
  • Surge Withstand Capability: Built with internal protection circuits that meet the strict IEEE-472-1974 surge withstand capability standards.

Applications

  • Distributed event monitoring and recording in Symphony control networks.
  • High-accuracy time-stamped digital signal tracking in Harmony Control Units.
  • Sequence of events (SOE) logging for industrial process control logic.
  • Power and sequence critical recording within process automation environments.

Installation Guidelines

  • Slot Placement: Insert the module assembly into its designated position in the standard module mounting unit (MMU), where it will occupy exactly one slot.
  • Hardware Configuration: Ensure all board-level jumpers and switches are set to their proper configurations to manage the module and its specific I/O channels prior to powering the rack.
  • Termination Cable Links: Route and connect the dedicated module cable from the unit to the corresponding NTST01 and NTD101 termination units.
  • Time Link Termination: Secure the time synchronization link termination to the NTST01 termination unit to allow appropriate decoding of the time master signal.
  • Field Wiring: Connect all incoming external digital field wiring directly to the physical connection points provided on the NTD101 termination unit.
  • Expander Bus Constraints: Verify that no other timing modules are placed on the same local network path, as only one module can operate on an I/O expander bus segment.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CE Mark Declaration: Complies with EMC96 Directive 89/336/EEC (EN50082-2 Generic Immunity Standard - Part 2: Industrial Environment and EN50081-2 Generic Emission Standard - Part 2: Industrial Environment) when properly installed in a Symphony cabinet.
  • Low Voltage Directive: Complies with Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC (EN61010-1 Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control and Laboratory Use - Part 1: General Requirements).
