The IC600BF808 can be deployed across local I/O stations or directly within the CPU I/O station of a Series Six architecture. When integrated into an I/O chain, any intermediate I/O transmitter modules pass the active interrupt signals through to the CPU continuously to avoid processing delays.
In CPU memory mapping, interrupt input data assignments depend on the chain configuration. When placed on the Main I/O chain, the module's 8 inputs are assigned to status table bits I1001 through I1008. If placed on an Auxiliary I/O chain, the inputs correspond to status table bits AI1001 through AI1008. When simultaneous input events occur across multiple channels on the module, hardware logic prioritizes execution so that the lowest numbered input routine is handled before higher-numbered channels.
