Description
The Allen-Bradley 1746-P4 is a reliable and robust modular power supply designed specifically for the Allen-Bradley SLC 500 fixed and modular controller systems. This unit provides regulated 5VDC and 24VDC power directly to the backplane of the local chassis, supporting CPU operation, communication modules, and digital or analog I/O expansion modules. Built for industrial automation environments, it ensures reliable distribution of backplane power while maintaining system integrity during routine line fluctuations.
Featuring a selectable line voltage input range, the 1746-P4 adapts easily to common industrial power distribution standards. It includes built-in hold-up time capabilities to keep the processor scanning safely during brief voltage sags or brownouts, and initiates controlled shutdowns when input power is lost for extended periods. The soldered internal fuse and high-isolation design protect sensitive downstream electronics against electrical noise and ground disturbances commonly found in factory floor settings.

Installation Guidelines
Ensure all incoming line voltage is completely disconnected and locked out before installing or removing the 1746-P4 power supply. Mount the power supply securely into the extreme left-hand slot of the SLC 500 modular chassis as mandated by rack architecture guidelines. Connect the protective earth ground terminal directly to the enclosure ground bus bar using low-impedance wire to reduce electromagnetic interference. Verify that the selectable voltage switch on the side of the unit matches your facility's incoming line voltage before applying power.
