It allows the regulator to vent downstream pressure when you turn the knob to a lower setting. This is a safety and convenience feature that prevents high pressure from being "trapped" in the downstream line.
What happens if I use this without a gauge?
The "N" code indicates no gauge is included. While the unit will function perfectly, it is highly recommended to install a gauge into one of the 1/8" or 1/4" ports on the body to ensure accurate pressure settings.
Is the 40µm element sufficient for sensitive tools?
40µm is standard for general industrial air tools. However, for precision instruments or paint spraying, you may require a secondary 5µm filter or an oil-removal (coalescing) filter downstream.
