Description

Designed as a side-mounted control interface accessory, the C9900-E517 push-button extension integrates directly with Beckhoff CP6xxx and CP7xxx Series Control Panels and Panel PCs. Optimized for 15-inch displays without integrated keyboards, this extension module expands operator capabilities by adding physical control elements to the right side of the display unit.

The C9900-E517 features 16 high-quality Siemens Signum square (30 x 30 mm) push-buttons with integrated signal lamps, along with a dedicated emergency stop switch. To ensure flexible integration into existing automation networks, the module supports dual-channel command transmission. Primary normally-open (NO) contacts and all signal lamps are transmitted digitally via CP-Link or USB. For safety-critical or hardwired requirements, a secondary normally-open contact for each push-button and the emergency stop key can be wired directly via an integrated terminal row.

Features

  • Right-Side Mounting: Specifically designed to attach to the right side of compatible 15-inch Beckhoff Control Panels (such as CP6x31-00xx and CP7x31-00xx models).
  • Industrial Operator Elements: Equipped with 16 square Siemens Signum push-buttons (30 x 30 mm) with integrated signal lamps.
  • Directly Wireable Emergency Stop: Includes 1 Siemens Signum emergency stop key designed for immediate, hardwired safety circuit integration.
  • Dual Contact Architecture: All push-buttons support digital transmission via CP-Link or USB (first normally-open contact) and hardwired connection via terminal row (second normally-open contact).
  • Digital Lamp Control: Signal lamps are controlled exclusively through the CP-Link or USB communication interface.
  • Customizable Labeling: Button caps allow individual labeling sheets to be inserted for clear operator instruction.

Applications

  • Operator panels in automotive manufacturing and assembly lines.
  • Machine tool control systems requiring physical emergency stop and cycle-start inputs.
  • Process visualization terminals in oil, gas, and chemical industries.
  • Custom HMI stations in material handling and packaging plants.

Direct connection points for hardwiring the emergency stop switch into safety relays or fail-safe PLC modules.

Installation Guidelines

  • Power Off: Disconnect all power sources to the host CP6xxx or CP7xxx Control Panel before physical installation.
  • Mechanical Alignment: Align the mechanical mounting brackets on the right side of the control panel, ensuring the gasket seals are properly positioned to maintain the unit's IP rating.
  • Cable Routing: Separate low-voltage CP-Link/USB communication lines from high-voltage or inductive power cables inside the console cabinet to prevent electromagnetic interference.
  • Safety Wiring: Ensure the emergency stop circuit is wired in compliance with local machine safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849-1) utilizing the dedicated direct-wiring terminal points.

Which Beckhoff Control Panels are compatible with the C9900-E517?

The C9900-E517 is designed specifically for Beckhoff CP6xxx and CP7xxx series Control Panels and Panel PCs with 15-inch displays that do not have an integrated keyboard, such as the CP6x31-00xx and CP7x31-00xx models.

How are the push-button signals transmitted to the controller?

Signals are split into two channels: the primary normally-open contact and all signal lamps are transmitted digitally via CP-Link or USB, while a secondary normally-open contact for each button is directly accessible on a terminal block for hardwired connection.

Can the emergency stop button be wired into a standard safety PLC?

Yes. The Siemens Signum emergency stop key is completely independent of the digital USB/CP-Link transmission and features direct wiring terminal rows, allowing integration into standard safety relays or fail-safe PLCs.
