Product Description

Description

The BECKHOFF EKM1101 is an EtherCAT Coupler designed to connect standard EtherCAT Terminals (ELxxxx series) to 100BASE-TX EtherCAT networks. This coupler features built-in identity verification through integrated rotary hex switches and comprehensive voltage diagnostics, housed in a durable zinc die-cast metal enclosure. It acts as the head station for downstream I/O terminals, converting the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to the E-bus signal representation.

To support modular machine designs and flexible system topologies, the BECKHOFF EKM1101 allows explicit identity assignment. The user can manually configure station IDs directly on the device using three rotary switches, preventing communication mismatches in systems with changing configurations. Additionally, the coupler monitors both supply and output voltages, offering enhanced electrical diagnostic coverage and isolated output voltages for stable field-side operation.

Features

  • Connects BECKHOFF EL-series EtherCAT Terminals to 100BASE-TX networks.
  • Integrated hex rotary ID switches for configuring up to 256 unique station IDs.
  • Comprehensive diagnostic functions monitoring both supply and output voltages.
  • Zinc die-cast metal housing with status and diagnostic LED indicators.
  • Provides an E-bus current supply of up to 2000 mA for connected terminals.
  • Supports up to 65,534 addressable EtherCAT terminals in a single network segment.
  • Electrical isolation of 500 V between power contacts, supply voltage, and the EtherCAT network.
  • Reverse polarity protection for safe field installation.

Applications

  • Modular machine building requiring automatic identity verification for variable production modules.
  • Distributed EtherCAT I/O nodes operating in demanding mechanical or electrical environments.
  • Industrial automation topologies requiring close monitoring of control voltage stability.
