Description

The EL1809 is a high-density EtherCAT Terminal from Beckhoff, designed to acquire 16 digital input signals (24 V DC) in a compact form factor. By utilizing 1-wire connection technology, this terminal streamlines cabinet wiring for high-density applications. It is compliant with the EN 61131-2 Type 1/3 specification, ensuring reliable signal detection for both standard and high-impedance sensors. The terminal features an integrated input filter (3.0 ms) to suppress signal noise, making it an ideal choice for monitoring slow digital signals in complex automation systems.

Features

  • High Density: 16 digital inputs in a 12 mm wide housing.
  • 1-Wire Technology: Direct plug-in technique significantly reduces wiring time.
  • Safety & Compliance: Fully compliant with CE, UL, ATEX, and IECEx standards for hazardous locations.
  • Reliability: Galvanic isolation between the E-bus and field potential (500 V).
  • Easy Maintenance: Signal LEDs provide quick visual status diagnostics for all 16 channels.

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting: The EL1809 clips directly onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715). Multiple terminals can be mounted side-by-side using the double slot and key connection system.
  • Wiring: Supports solid and flexible conductors (0.08–1.5 mm²). Use a flat-head screwdriver to actuate the spring-loaded terminals.
  • Stripping: Strip wires to 8–9 mm for optimal contact within the terminal block.
  • Power Contacts: Note that the maximum current load for power contacts is 10 A. Ensure your power supply distribution adheres to this limit when cascading multiple terminal

How many inputs does the EL1809 support?
