Description

Designed for high-precision analog acquisition within EtherCAT networks, the EL3164 analog input terminal processes signal voltages ranging from 0 to 10 V. This four-channel module features a single-ended design configuration, converting analog process signals with 16-bit resolution (including sign) for transmission to the higher-level automation controller. Built for industrial environments, it features integrated Distributed Clocks (DC) to ensure highly synchronized microsecond-level timing across the control system.

The EL3164 EtherCAT terminal integrates configurable software options to optimize signal quality, including selectable FIR and IIR digital filters, along with limit value monitoring capabilities. This compact 12 mm module communicates directly via the E-bus to leverage high-speed data transfer rates, making it an ideal choice for testing, assembly, and plant automation applications.

Features

  • Four independent, single-ended analog input channels in a single compact housing
  • Standard signal voltage range of 0 to 10 V
  • High-resolution 16-bit analog-to-digital conversion (including sign)
  • Supports Distributed Clocks (DC) for precise synchronization across the network
  • Software-configurable digital filters (FIR/IIR) and integrated limit value monitoring
  • Electrical isolation of 500 V between the E-bus and the input signal channels
  • Standard compact design with status indication LEDs for fast diagnostic troubleshooting

Applications

  • Heavy industrial process monitoring and automation control loops
  • Precision machine building and high-speed motion synchronization
  • Data acquisition setups, calibration platforms, and automated test benches
  • Automated HVAC control, water distribution, and environmental monitoring infrastructure

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting: Snap directly onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail (conforming to EN 60715). Ensure the locking mechanism is engaged.
  • Shielding and Grounding: Connect the cable shield directly to the grounding busbar or ground terminal to minimize electromagnetic noise on the analog inputs.
  • Wiring: Toolless wiring can be performed on solid or ferruled wires using the integrated spring-clamp terminals. For stranded wires without ferrules, actuate the clamp using a small screwdriver.
  • Environmental: Install in a dry, clean cabinet environment with an ambient operating temperature between 0 and +55 degC. Ensure ventilation clearance as required by system architecture guidelines.
