Description

The BECKHOFF EL3174-0002 is a high-performance, 4-channel analog input EtherCAT Terminal designed for flexible voltage and current measurement. This multi-function terminal features electrically isolated differential inputs, allowing each channel to be individually parameterised through the control system to process either current or voltage signals. The exceptional 2500 V functional isolation between channels and to the fieldbus makes it an ideal choice for preventing ground loop problems and ensuring high signal integrity in complex electrical environments.

As part of the modular BECKHOFF EtherCAT I/O system, the EL3174-0002 integrates directly into standard terminal segments. It operates with 16-bit resolution and supports Distributed Clocks (DC) for precise synchronization of measurements across the entire control network. Installation Guidelines

1. Ensure that the entire system power supply is completely de-energized before mounting or removing terminals.
2. Align the EL3174-0002 with the DIN rail and snap it onto the assembly, verifying that the lock is securely engaged.
3. Slide the terminal together with adjacent terminals to establish correct E-bus contact connection.
4. Connect the differential sensor wiring to the spring clamp contacts using a standard screwdriver. Ensure that signal shielding is correctly terminated.
5. Power up the system and verify the statuses shown by the integrated diagnostics LEDs on the front of the terminal.

Configuration Guidelines

The EL3174-0002 does not require hardware switches or physical address settings. All settings, including signal type configuration (voltage or current) and filter adjustments, are performed through the EtherCAT master configuration tool or the TwinCAT System Manager using the standard XML-based EtherCAT System Information (ESI) file.
