Integrating PROFIBUS fieldbus networks into high-performance EtherCAT networks is simplified using the Beckhoff EL6731 communication interface. This 1-channel PROFIBUS master/slave terminal enables bidirectional data transfer between EtherCAT Terminals and legacy PROFIBUS DP, DP-V1, DP-V2, and MC installations. It operates seamlessly within the TwinCAT system, allowing differing DP cycle times per slave through the implementation of the CDL (Co-processor Dependency Link) concept.
The module functions as a highly integrated gateway, supporting up to 125 slaves and transfer rates from 9.6 kbaud up to 12 Mbaud.
