The BECKHOFF ELX3202 is a 2-channel analog input EtherCAT Terminal designed for precise temperature and resistance measurements in hazardous areas. Serving as an intrinsically safe (Ex i) interface, this terminal allows for the direct connection of resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) located in Zone 0/20 and Zone 1/21 explosion-hazard environments, eliminating the need for external safety barriers.
This compact 12 mm terminal features 16-bit resolution and supports a wide range of sensor types, including Pt100, Pt200, Pt500, Pt1000, Ni100, Ni120, Ni1000, and KT(Y) sensors, as well as general resistance measurements up to 4 kOhm. To ensure high measurement accuracy, the ELX3202 incorporates integrated digital filters, limit value monitoring, and sensor characteristic curve linearization.
Designed for seamless integration into the standard Beckhoff EtherCAT I/O terminal system, the ELX3202 requires the use of the ELX9560 power supply terminal to supply safe field-side electronics power in hazardous configurations. It provides flexibility with software-configurable 2-, 3-, or 4-wire connection technologies to accommodate varying field installation requirements.
