What Is SCADA? Supervisory Control Without Replacing the PLC
SCADA sits above PLCs and RTUs: it acquires field data, alarms operators, and issues supervisory commands across plants and remote assets—without replacing local deterministic control.

Engineered to deliver clean, highly stable electrical power to the 3500 machinery protection system rack, the Bently Nevada 3500/15-04-04-00 functions as a high-reliability, low-voltage power supply module. This module accepts low-voltage DC inputs to convert incoming primary power into the regulated voltages required by the monitoring and communications modules housed within the rack. It supports a dual-redundant power configuration to maximize system availability in heavy industrial process plants, petroleum refineries, and power generation facilities where continuous asset monitoring is crucial.

The 3500/15-04-04-00 model represents an all-low-voltage DC configuration. When replacing older 3500/15 units, ensure that your rack's backplane power terminal input block is designed specifically for 24 Vdc nominal feeds. Installing a DC module into a rack pre-wired for high-voltage AC (such as 3500/15-01-xx options) will damage the internal terminal pins. If migrating from legacy configurations, check physical card guide clearances on early-revision 3500 chassis.
Under full rack loads (all 14 monitor slots populated with dual-channel relays or high-draw seismic cards), thermal dissipation within the power supply modules increases. Maintain a clear ventilation path above and below the 3500 enclosure. Avoid combining a low-voltage DC supply and a high-voltage AC supply within the same chassis unless the rack backplane has been explicitly verified for mixed-voltage dual-source layouts, as failure to switch over during a fault can occur with unmatched impedance feeds.
Always utilize shielded, twisted pair cables (minimum 12 AWG) for the DC input terminals to protect the backplane from common-mode noise. Ensure the frame ground terminal on the input block is tied back to your instrument clean ground with a low-impedance connection. This prevents ground loops from corrupting the transient monitoring data signals passing through the neighboring monitor cards.
Isolate and verify that the low-voltage DC supply lines measure below 2 Vdc before connecting any conductors to the rear terminal blocks.
Slide the module along the chassis card guides in the designated slot (usually the extreme left of the 3500 rack) until the connectors bottom out firmly.
Secure the module's integrated faceplate screws to the frame chassis to ensure robust grounding and vibration-proof mounting.
Energize the DC source supply and verify the front faceplate green 'OK' LED is stably illuminated.
