Product Overview

The EVS9322-ES (EVS9322ES) is a high-precision servo inverter from the renowned Lenze 9300-series, engineered specifically for high-dynamic motion control in automated industrial environments. Delivering a rated power of 0.75 kW (1.0 HP), this servo controller is optimized for applications requiring exacting speed accuracy and torque regulation, such as pick-and-place robotics, labeling machines, and synchronized feeder systems. The EVS9322-ES features an IP20 protection rating and a slim, space-saving design (7.60 cm width), making it an ideal candidate for high-density control cabinet installations. Its advanced vector control capabilities allow it to handle complex motion profiles with ease, ensuring seamless integration and maximum uptime for critical production lines. Although currently in the phase-out stage, it remains a vital component for maintaining the operational integrity of global B2B automation infrastructures.

Technical Configuration

The EVS9322-ES is built upon a modular hardware platform that supports the "Global Drive" software environment, allowing for highly flexible parameterization. The internal architecture includes integrated evaluation for various feedback systems, including resolvers and encoders, enabling closed-loop precision. It supports sophisticated control features such as electronic gearboxes, cam profiles, and torque limiting. Communication is standard via the integrated system bus (CAN), which allows for real-time coordination in multi-axis systems. The power stage is designed for high overload capacity and features thermal monitoring to protect the IGBT modules during intense duty cycles. Its rugged German engineering ensures stable performance even in electrically noisy environments.

Technical FAQs

Can the EVS9322-ES be used with motors from other manufacturers?

Yes, while optimized for Lenze MDSKS or MCS motors, the 9300-series can control third-party permanent magnet synchronous motors. This requires manual entry of the motor's pole pair numbers, winding resistance, and inductance data into the Global Drive Control (GDC) software.

What should I check if I receive an 'OC1' (Short Circuit) error on power-up?

An OC1 fault indicates a low-impedance path at the output. Disconnect the motor cable from the U/V/W terminals and reset the drive. If the fault clears, the issue is in the cable or motor winding. If the fault persists with nothing connected, the internal power stage is likely damaged.

Is it possible to replace an EVS9322-ES with a 9400-series drive?

Direct physical replacement is not possible as the mounting footprints and wiring terminals differ. However, the 9400-series is the modern functional successor. Migration involves a full cabinet redesign and re-parameterization using the Lenze "Engineer" software.

Engineering & Installation Guide

  • Vertical Clearance and Cooling: The EVS9322-ES relies on vertical convection for cooling. Ensure a minimum clearance of 100 mm above and below the unit. Since the drive is only 7.60 cm wide, side-by-side mounting is efficient, but you must ensure the cabinet's internal temperature does not exceed 45 deg C to maintain the 0.75 kW power rating.

  • Shielding for Servo Precision: High-dynamic servo applications are sensitive to electrical noise. Use only double-shielded motor cables. The shield must be clamped to the drive's EMC mounting plate using a 360-degree contact clip to ensure low-impedance grounding of high-frequency interference.

  • DC Bus Safety: Before servicing the device, disconnect the mains power and wait at least 5 minutes. Measure the voltage across the +UG and -UG terminals with a multimeter to ensure the DC bus has discharged to below 50 VDC. The 9300-series capacitors hold a lethal charge for several minutes after power-off.
