Description

The INICI03 Infi-Net to Infi-Net Local Transfer Module is a Harmony rack communication interface designed for the Symphony Enterprise Management and Control System. It serves as an intelligent bridge, providing a host computer or Human System Interface (HSI) with direct access to the Control Network (Cnet) or INFI-NET communication system.

The INICI03 is backward-compatible with existing INFI 90 OPEN Strategic Enterprise Management Systems.

The complete interface assembly is a multi-module hardware system comprising three primary components:

  • INNIS01 Network Interface Module: Provides the intelligent front-end connection between the node and the communication network.
  • INICT03 Computer Transfer Module: Serves as the command-driven processing core for data buffering, point tables, and host interactions.
  • IMMPI01 Multifunction Processor Interface Module: Provides the physical hardware interface for RS-232-C serial or SCSI parallel host connections.

Features

  • High-Capacity Data Buffering: Dynamically packs and organizes process information and exception reports for efficient network transmission.
  • Large Point Storage Capacity: The integrated INICT03 module can store up to 30,000 point definitions, depending on the point types.
  • Robust Data Integrity: Transmitted network frames use Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) codes and checksum verification.
  • Automatic Power Recovery: Localized startup and shutdown procedures execute automatically following a power failure.
  • Asynchronous Processing: Local data buffering allows the host computer to poll data independently of the real-time Cnet clock.

Applications

  • Symphony Enterprise Management and Control Systems
  • INFI 90 OPEN DCS system integration
  • Central engineering and configuration stations using Composer tools
  • Plant-wide Human System Interface workstations using Conductor NT or Conductor VMS

Installation Guidelines

  • Electrostatic Protection: The modules contain components sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Personnel must wear a grounded wrist strap connected to the cabinet chassis ground before handling circuitry.
  • Hardware Address Configuration: Before installing modules in the Module Mounting Unit, configure the circuit-board DIP switches for the required node address, loop address, and loop operating mode.
  • Machine Fault Timer: Do not operate the modules with the machine fault timer circuit manually disabled. Doing so may produce unpredictable output sequences and compromise loop safety.
  • Module Insertion: Verify cabinet power-loading limits before installation. Insert each module into its designated card-cage slot and fully tighten both faceplate retaining screws.
