When migrating legacy systems from the older FR-A720-22K series to the FR-A820-22K-1, ensure you map the terminal configurations accurately. While the mounting dimensions are highly compatible, parameter structures differ. Use FR Configurator2 software to perform a automated parameter conversion. Pay careful attention to the FM terminal output settings; the standard FM pulse frequency scaling may require adjustments to match your existing analog panel meters.
Under continuous high-load applications, this 15 kg inverter generates considerable thermal dissipation. Enclosure design must accommodate at least 150W of continuous heat output from the drive’s internal heat sink. Maintain a minimum clearance of 10 cm above and below the drive. For enclosed panel installations, we recommend routing the heatsink portion through the back of the panel (external mounting) to preserve the interior thermal budget of the control cabinet.
To eliminate electromagnetic interference (EMI) on the RS-485 communication bus, always utilize shielded twisted-pair (STP) cabling. Connect the shield braid strictly to the physical ground terminal at the drive end only. Avoid routing control circuit wiring in the same conduit or parallel cable tray as the main R/L1-S/L2-T/L3 input lines. Always maintain a minimum separation distance of 30 cm between high-power supply cables and low-voltage control signals.
Mount the inverter vertically on a non-flammable backplate (such as steel or concrete) using the specified M8 mounting bolts torqued to 4.0 N-m.
Connect the physical protective earth (PE) ground conductor to the dedicated grounding terminal prior to connecting any primary input lines.
Wire the main three-phase power input to terminals R/L1, S/L2, and T/L3. Ensure proper phase rotation matches your control sequence.
Connect the motor leads to terminal outputs U, V, and W. Do not connect power lines to these terminals as this will cause catastrophic drive failure.
