Implementing 3-Switch XOR Ladder Logic with Internal Bit
Implement a 3-SPST switch XOR light circuit in LogixPro or RSLogix 500 using an internal relay bit. Includes truth tables, boolean equations, and verified.
Providing the critical network link between local input/output devices and a master controller, the Omron NXEIC202 is a dedicated bus coupler for the high-speed NX I/O Bus system. This module allows seamless distribution of inputs and outputs over standard industrial networks, enabling high-performance control architectures in space-constrained enclosures. Equipped with dual RJ45 ports, it simplifies wiring layouts by supporting flexible industrial Ethernet topologies directly on the machine level.

| Manufacturer | Omron |
| Model | NXEIC202 |
| Series | NX Series |
| Communication Protocol | EtherNet/IP |
| Number of Ports | 2 (RJ45 with internal switch) |
| Internal I/O Bus | NX Bus |
| Maximum Number of I/O Units | 63 units |
| Protection Degree | IP20 |
| Dimensions (H x W x D) | 100 mm x 46 mm x 80 mm |
| Net Weight | 0.15 kg |
| Shipping Weight (Calculated) | 1.0 kg |
| Terminal / Port | Function / Assignment |
|---|---|
| EtherNet/IP Port 1 | RJ45 connection to network/master controller |
| EtherNet/IP Port 2 | RJ45 connection to next downstream slave node (daisy chain) |
| Unit Power Terminals | 24 VDC input powering the internal coupler circuitry |
| I/O Power Terminals | 24 VDC input routed directly to connected I/O units |
This EtherNet/IP coupler integrates natively within Sysmac Studio. Note that older firmware revisions may limit the maximum number of high-speed analog units allowed on the local bus. Always verify that your controller's configuration file matches the coupler's specific hardware revision printed on the side label.
When packing multiple high-current digital output modules directly adjacent to the coupler, compute the total current draw on both the internal Unit Power Supply and the external I/O Power Supply. Exceeding the standard unit power limit will cause communication timeouts on the NX Bus. Interleave additional Power Feed Units (such as the NX-PF0630) to partition current delivery zones correctly.
For electrical noise mitigation in high-frequency environments (such as near variable frequency drives), ensure the DIN rail itself has a low-impedance connection to the main functional ground panel. Always use STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) Cat5e or higher cabling with grounded RJ45 metal shells to prevent packet loss under high electromagnetic interference.
Isolate all electrical power sources from the main switchgear before mounting or removing the coupler. Failure to shut down control-side and field-side 24 VDC lines completely prior to physical maintenance risks damaging the delicate gold-plated internal backplane connector pins.
Snap the coupler onto standard 35 mm DIN rail, securing it with end brackets on both sides to eliminate lateral vibration.
Connect your incoming EtherNet/IP communications cable to Port 1, and optional downstream daisy-chain nodes to Port 2.
Wire the independent 24 VDC Unit power supply and the 24 VDC I/O power supply lines using ferrules to protect fine conductors.
Configure the host network ID via the front rotary dials before energizing the control cabinet.
