Installation Guidelines

CRITICAL WARNING: The license key on the USB flash drive is unique and irreplaceable. Loss or damage to the USB drive before the license is transferred may result in the permanent loss of the software authorization. Always create a backup of your license using the Automation License Manager software.

1 Verify that the target PC meets all minimum system requirements for TIA Portal and WinCC RT Professional V17, including operating system version, CPU, RAM, and available hard disk space.
2 Insert the installation DVD into the PC. If autorun is disabled, manually run the setup executable file. Follow the on-screen instructions provided by the Siemens setup wizard to install the software.
3 After software installation is complete, insert the supplied USB flash drive containing the license key into an available USB port on the target PC.
4 Launch the Siemens Automation License Manager (ALM) utility. In the ALM, select the USB drive as the source and the local hard drive (C:\ or other) as the destination. Drag and drop the license key to transfer it to the PC.
5 Once the license transfer is confirmed as successful in the ALM, safely eject and remove the USB flash drive. Store the original DVD and USB drive in a secure location for archival and recovery purposes.
