Installation Guidelines

CRITICAL WARNING: ELECTRICAL HAZARD

Disconnect all power sources before installation or maintenance. Failure to de-energize the system can result in severe injury or death. This device must be installed by qualified personnel only, in accordance with all applicable electrical codes.

  1. 1 Verify package contents. Ensure the SCALANCE module, M12 sealing caps, and documentation are present before beginning installation.
  2. 2 Mount the access point securely to a stable surface or DIN rail within the control panel or enclosure. Ensure adequate clearance for cable routing and heat dissipation.
  3. 3 Connect the R-SMA antennas to the designated ports. Tighten connections to be finger-tight plus a quarter turn with an appropriate tool to ensure a secure RF link. Do not overtighten.
  4. 4 Terminate the M12 Ethernet cables for network connectivity. If using PoE, confirm the upstream switch or injector meets the device's power requirements.
  5. 5 If using a local power source, connect the redundant 24 V DC supply via the specified M12 A-coded connector, observing correct polarity.
  6. 6 Ensure the unit is properly grounded according to site and regulatory requirements to minimize the effects of electrical noise and ensure safety.
  7. 7 After all physical connections are secured and verified, re-apply power to the system and proceed with software configuration of the access point.
