Description

The Siemens 6GK5788-2GD00-0AB0 is an industrial wireless LAN (IWLAN) access point from the SCALANCE W788-2 M12 series, designed for reliable communication in demanding environments. This unit is equipped with two radios and six N-CON antenna ports, supporting IEEE 802.11a/b/g/h/n standards across both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. Each radio is capable of a gross data rate up to 450 Mbit/s. Connectivity is provided through a single M12 Ethernet port supporting up to 1 Gbit/s. Power can be supplied via Power over Ethernet (PoE) or a redundant 24 V DC input, offering installation flexibility. The rugged, IP65-rated housing ensures protection against dust and water ingress.

Features

Installation Guidelines

CRITICAL WARNING: Hazardous voltages may be present. Installation, wiring, and maintenance must be performed by qualified personnel only. Failure to comply can result in severe injury or death. Always de-energize equipment and follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before accessing terminals.
  1. 1 Ensure all power sources to the installation area are de-energized and secured using appropriate LOTO procedures.
  2. 2 Mount the SCALANCE W788-2 M12 unit securely to a stable, vibration-free surface. Ensure adequate clearance for antenna installation and cable routing.
  3. 3 Connect the N-CON antennas to the six designated ports. Tighten connectors to the manufacturer's specified torque to ensure the IP65 seal is maintained.
  4. 4 Connect the M12 Ethernet cable for data communication. If using PoE, ensure the cable and upstream port support the required power standard.
  5. 5 If using a local power source, connect the redundant 24 V DC supply via the M12 A-coded power connector, verifying correct polarity.
  6. 6 Install the provided M12 sealing caps on all unused ports to maintain the IP65 rating.
  7. 7 After verifying all connections, remove LOTO devices and apply power to the unit for configuration and commissioning.
