Yokogawa ProSafe-RS Safety Control Stations utilize dedicated central processing units to execute safety instrumented functions across process automation systems. The Yokogawa SSC60D-S2521 is a rack-mountable duplexed safety control unit designed for operation on Vnet/IP control networks. Functioning as a high-reliability CPU node within the ProSafe-RS Safety Instrumented System (SIS), the unit manages safety logic execution and continuous diagnostics to meet Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 requirements.

The SSC60D-S duplexed control architecture incorporates redundant hardware channels to maintain continuous control execution and plant protection during component maintenance or single-fault events. It features dual-redundant Vnet/IP network interfaces (BUS1 and BUS2) and interfaces with safety node I/O units through redundant ESB bus links using SEC402 coupler modules. Installation Guidelines

  • Cabinet Mounting: Mount the rack-type safety control unit inside a lockable metal cabinet to satisfy standard safety and EMC protection requirements.
  • Grounding Requirements: Provide independent grounding with a grounding resistance of 100 ohms or less.
  • Network Cabling: Connect Vnet/IP network buses BUS1 and BUS2 through independent Layer 2 switches. Ensure both switches are not powered down simultaneously during operation.
  • ESB Bus Connections: Maintain dedicated ESB bus cable (YCB301) lengths within 10 m each for upper and lower ports on the SEC402 coupler module.
  • Power Line Protection: Install dedicated circuit breakers on the power distribution board conforming to UL 489 / CSA C22.2 No. 5 or EN 60947-1 / EN 60947-3.
