Description

Option 05 (50 mm unthreaded length) and Option 13 (130 mm overall case length) specify this metric, armored 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe configuration — 330104-05-13-10-02-05. This eddy-current proximity probe is used for non-contact shaft vibration, axial position, and speed monitoring on utility turbines, compressors, and general rotating industrial machinery. Unlike unarmored models such as the 330103, this variant includes integrated stainless steel armor with an outer FEP jacket to protect the coaxial cable from physical abrasion, cuts, and mechanical damage in demanding plant environments.

The probe utilizes a metric M10 x 1 threaded steel case and is fully compatible with standard 3300 XL extension cables and Proximitor sensors. The 1.0-meter integral cable (Option 10) connects to a 3300 XL extension cable to build a complete 5-meter or 9-meter transducer system. This specific configuration is equipped with a miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector (Option 02) and is certified for hazardous areas under Option 05 (CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals).

Installation Guidelines

• Tighten the M10 x 1 threaded probe body using an 8 mm wrench on the wrench flats. Do not exceed the recommended mounting torque of 7.5 N-m (66 in-lb).
• Maintain a minimum side clearance of 15 mm (0.6 in) from surrounding metal surfaces to prevent side-view interference with the eddy-current field.
• Ensure probe-to-probe separation is at least 40 mm (1.6 in) to prevent cross-talk between adjacent sensors.
• Maximum recommended thread engagement length is 15 mm. Thread engagement exceeding this may cause binding during installation.
• Avoid bending the armored section of the cable past its minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in).
