Installation Guidelines

Proper mechanical and electrical installation is critical for the longevity and accuracy of the 3300 XL 11 mm proximity probe. Observe the following practices during installation:

• Thread Engagement: Do not exceed the maximum thread engagement length of 21 mm for the M14 x 1.5 case. Excess thread engagement can cause binding or mechanical damage during insertion.
• Torque Limits: Tighten the probe case to a recommended torque of 21.1 N-m (187 in-lb). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 63.3 N-m (560 in-lb) to prevent case stripping or internal component damage.
• Cable Management: Maintain a minimum cable bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in). Avoid routing the FEP-insulated coaxial cable over sharp metal edges or in areas where it can become pinched or abraded.
• Connector Handling: The Miniature ClickLoc coaxial connectors must be handled with care. Finger-tighten connections, then use standard locking techniques if necessary (maximum connector torque is 0.565 N-m / 5 in-lb). The use of connector protectors or silicone tape is recommended to shield the connection from contamination in wet or oily environments.
• Pressure Sealing: The probe has a built-in Viton O-ring designed to seal differential pressure between the probe tip and case. To prevent seal failure, avoid exposing the probe to temperatures below -34 degC.
