The module includes a "Wiring Fail" indication. If a thermocouple wire is broken or disconnected, the status bit in the process image is set, and the input data moves to a defined limit value, allowing the safety logic in the PLC to trigger an alarm or emergency shutdown.

Can this module measure millivolt signals without a thermocouple?

Yes. Beyond standard thermocouple types, the KL3311 can be configured for raw mV measurement within the ranges of +/- 30 mV to +/- 120 mV. This is particularly useful for custom sensors or specialized laboratory instrumentation.

Is software configuration required for the KL3311?

  • Ex ec Compliance: When installing in ATEX/IECEx Zone 2 environments, the terminal must be housed in an enclosure providing at least IP54 protection. Ensure that the power is disconnected before plugging or unplugging the module to prevent spark risks in hazardous atmospheres.
