Installation Guidelines

CRITICAL WARNING: Electrical hazard. Always de-energize the S7-400 rack and verify the absence of voltage using a properly rated test instrument before installing or removing any module. Follow all site-specific Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  1. 1 Prepare the Rack: Identify the designated CPU slot in the SIMATIC S7-400 chassis. Ensure the backplane connectors are clean and free of debris.
  2. 2 Mount the Module: Align the module with the card guides in the slot. Slide the CPU firmly and evenly into the rack until the backplane connectors are fully engaged.
  3. 3 Secure the Module: Tighten the retaining screws on the front panel of the module to secure it to the chassis frame. Do not overtighten.
  4. 4 Connect Interfaces: Connect the MPI and PROFIBUS DP communication cables to the corresponding ports on the front of the CPU. Ensure connectors are properly seated and secured.
  5. 5 System Power-Up: After all modules are installed and connections are verified, remove LOTO devices and re-apply power to the system in accordance with operational procedures.
