Description

The IS200JPDCG1A functions as a component-dense power distribution board within the General Electric Mark VI Turbine Control System. It combines input and output distribution functions to deliver 125 V dc, 115/230 V ac, and 28 V dc to other terminal boards and packs within steam, gas, or wind turbine management setups. The IS200JPDCG1A acts as the primary hosting module for a Power Distribution System Feedback (PPDA) I/O pack, directly capturing and multiplexing diagnostic feedback signals from both local circuits and daisy-chained upstream distribution boards to facilitate system monitoring via the IONet.

Features

  • Integrated PPDA Feedback Support: Hosts the PPDA I/O pack on connector JA1, routing local and daisy-chained diagnostic signals without requiring separate diagnostic transmission lines.
  • Multi-Bus Power Distribution: Distributes 125 V dc, 115/230 V ac, and 28 V dc power simultaneously across partitioned board zones.
  • Extensive Polyfuse Protection: Includes twenty-six 1.6 A polyfuse-protected outputs for auxiliary device distribution alongside dedicated un-fused high-current controller and switch power connections.
  • Upstream Board Daisy Chaining: Equipped with a 50-pin ribbon cable connector (P2) supporting the cascading of up to four additional distribution boards into the PPDA feedback loop.
  • Ground Fault Sensing Capability: Features a bus centering circuit activated via jumper JP2, connecting both sides of the 125 V dc bus to functional earth through 84 kOhm resistors for precise fault monitoring.

Applications

  • Gas and steam turbine management systems
  • Alternative energy wind turbine control applications
  • Automated industrial control cabinets utilizing Mark VI Speedtronic infrastructure

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting Orientation: The module must be mounted vertically with the 115/230 V ac input connector (JAC) situated at the bottom. Secure the module base to the panel back-base with four screws via the designated top and bottom mounting holes.
  • Module Integrity: To prevent physical damage, do not remove the printed circuit board from its factory-supplied steel mounting plate; always replace the board and backing plate as a single complete module assembly.
  • Functional Grounding (FE): Ensure the module is fastened tightly to an underlying sheet-metal surface grounded to the functional earth (FE) network to establish a proper reference point for diagnostic loops.
  • Protective Grounding (PE): Separate dedicated earth ground wires must link module screw connections E5 and/or E6 directly to the enclosure protective earth (PE) bus. Grounding paths must handle 60 A for 60 seconds with less than a 10 V drop.
  • Filter Placement: Position input line filters immediately on a PE-grounded base or adjacent to the enclosure PE bus using minimal wire lengths to mitigate radio frequency impedance.
  • Power Re-energization Delay: After throwing toggle switches SW1R, SW1S, or SW1T to the OFF position, wait a minimum of 30 seconds before re-energizing to prevent destructive inrush voltage damage to connected 28 V dc power supply input circuits.

Technical Datasheet

GE IS200JPDCG1A Mark VI Speedtronic Power Distribution Board

What is the purpose of the 30-second wait time warning labeled on the module switches?

When the external dc/dc converter supply switches (SW1R, SW1S, SW1T) are turned off, a 30-second delay is required before switching them back on to prevent electrical inrush damage to the input circuits of the connected 28 V dc power supplies.

How are the ground networks segregated on the power distribution board?

The board splits grounding into a Protective Earth (PE) connection for hardware safety and switch body paths, and a Functional Earth (FE) connection used through the mounting supports as a reference point for analog diagnostic feedback signals.

Why are there no diagnostic feedback loops provided for the J8A, J8B, and J8C power outputs?

Feedback loops are omitted for these specific outputs because they feed Contact Input (TBCI) terminal boards, which feature their own onboard internal voltage monitoring circuits.

How do you reset a latch-off state caused by an overcurrent event on the auxiliary device outputs?

The twenty-six auxiliary outputs are protected by 1.6 A polyfuses that latch off during overcurrent conditions; to reset them, you must cycle the input power to the affected polyfuse circuit.
