  • Always wire the emergency stop switch directly to an approved safety relay or safety PLC input. Do not process emergency safety signals through the USB data interface.

Can the integrated emergency stop button be monitored safely over the USB connection?

No. For industrial safety compliance, the Siemens Signum emergency stop button is not routed over USB. It must be hardwired directly to your machine's safety relay or safety controller using the dedicated terminal row.

How are the push-button signal lamps controlled?

All integrated signal lamps inside the push-buttons are powered and controlled strictly through the USB interface connecting the extension to the host Panel PC or terminal.
