Description

Designed for direct connection of serial devices in harsh industrial environments, the Beckhoff EPP6001-0002 serial interface module provides high-performance data transmission via the EtherCAT P network protocol. This compact, machine-mountable I/O box enables the integration of devices featuring RS232, RS485, or RS422 interfaces directly into the control network, bypassing the need for protective control cabinets.

The module transmits serial data in a fully bidirectional format to the controller, utilizing an active internal buffer to manage high-speed communication independent of the EtherCAT cycle time. It features integrated digital inputs and outputs, alongside an auxiliary 5 V DC power supply to directly drive connected sensors or terminal equipment, minimizing external wiring requirements.

Installation Guidelines

• Mounting: Attach to a flat machine surface using the two integrated 3.5 mm diameter fixing holes designed for M3 screws.
• Connector Torque: Ensure all M8 and M12 connectors are tightened to their designated torque specification to maintain the IP67 ingress protection rating.
• Shielding: Grounding and shielding connection must be established correctly via the EtherCAT P bus interface connectors to limit electromagnetic interference.
• Thermal Management: Maintain unobstructed air space around the unit when operating near the upper ambient temperature limit of +60 degC.
