Description
330880-28-35-017-00-02: English-unit PROXPAC XL Proximity Transducer assembly configured with a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with multiple approvals (Option 28), a 3.5 in (89 mm) standoff adapter length (Option 35), a 1.7 in (43 mm) probe penetration depth (Option 017), without conduit fittings (Option 00), and a 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread sleeve (Option 02).
This integrated design houses a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe and its matching Proximitor sensor directly within the glass-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic probe housing. By combining both elements in a single Type 4X and IP66 rated enclosure, this configuration eliminates the requirement for an external extension cable and separate Proximitor sensor housing. Field wiring connects directly from the terminal block inside the housing to the monitoring system, simplifying physical mounting and electrical installation in severe industrial environments. The integrated 3300 XL 8 mm probe operates on standard eddy-current principles to measure shaft vibration and axial position on rotating machinery.
Features
- Integrated assembly houses both the 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe and matching Proximitor sensor inside a single enclosure.
- Option 28 specifies a 3300 XL 8 mm probe equipped with Multiple Approvals (such as CSA, ATEX, and IECEx) for installation in hazardous areas.
- Option 35 provides a 3.5 in (89 mm) standoff adapter for extending the housing from the machinery casing.
- Option 017 sets a probe penetration length of 1.7 in (43 mm) into the machine casing.
- Option 00 designates the assembly is supplied without auxiliary conduit fittings, including two plugs and two washers.
- Option 02 utilizes a 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread sleeve for mechanical connection.
- Enclosure is constructed from molded ultraviolet (UV) resistant glass-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic containing conductive fibers to dissipate electrostatic charges.
- Sealing rating of Type 4X and IP66 provides ingress protection against moisture and dust in severe environments.
Applications
- Radial shaft vibration and axial shaft position measurements on rotating industrial machinery.
- Severe industrial environments such as oil and gas refineries, petrochemical plants, and power generation facilities.
- Retrofitting machinery housings where a separate Proximitor junction box cannot be accommodated.

Installation Guidelines
Ensure that the outer sleeve is properly mounted to the machine case using the 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread option (Option 02) to maintain a secure and vibration-isolated connection. Standard tightening torques should be applied: the retaining nut must be torqued to 29.5 N-m (260 in-lb) and the probe sleeve locknut to 39.3 N-m (350 in-lb). Grounding liner and retaining plate components must be correctly seated to prevent electrostatic charge build-up. All conduit runs should be properly sealed to prevent external moisture and condensation from traveling through the conduit and entering the transducer housing.
Compliance and Certifications
This transducer system is certified to comply with the European Union CE mark, EMC Directive 2014/30/EU (Standards EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4), and RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU. Hazardous area approvals are governed by CSA/NRTL/US and ATEX/IECEx standards. The system is certified for Class I, Zone 0: AEx/Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga, and Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D environments when installed with appropriate intrinsic safety barriers or galvanic isolators according to control drawings. The housing is independently rated to meet Type 4X and IP66 ingress protection criteria.
