Description
330881-28-00-145-03-02 specifies a metric-threaded PROXPAC XL proximity transducer assembly configured with a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with multiple hazardous area approvals, no standoff adapter, a 145 mm probe penetration depth, one M20 conduit fitting with two blanking plugs, and a 3/4-14 NPT outer sleeve mounting thread. This self-contained assembly integrates both the proximity probe and the 3300 XL Proximitor sensor into a single mechanical package, bypassing the requirement for separate external Proximitor enclosures or intermediate extension cables. Field wiring connects directly inside the terminal junction of the transducer housing, reducing overall loop installation complexity and decreasing wiring run requirements.
The structural housing is fabricated from advanced, molded glass- and conductive-fiber-reinforced Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic. This material provides exceptional chemical resistance and mechanical strength, effectively dissipating static charges while holding a Type 4X and IP66 environmental rating. The internal 3300 XL Proximitor sensor inside the cover lid interfaces with standard Bently Nevada 3300 XL monitoring systems, making this assembly an efficient configuration for rotating machinery protection in hostile environments.
Features
- Option 28 integrates a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with Multiple Approvals (ATEX, IECEx, and CSA) for hazardous area installations.
- Option 00 specifies no standoff adapter, mounting the outer sleeve directly to the machine casing via the NPT thread.
- Option 145 provides a 145 mm probe penetration depth to suit specific machine case dimensions.
- Option 03 supplies one M20 metric conduit fitting and two blanking plugs for reliable, sealed entry.
- Option 02 configures a 3/4-14 NPT outer mounting thread on the sleeve.
- Self-contained design eliminates the traditional extension cable by locating the Proximitor sensor inside the housing lid.
- Composite PPS thermoplastic housing offers outstanding chemical resistance and static dissipation capabilities in harsh environments.
Applications
- Continuous radial vibration and axial position monitoring on large rotating machinery.
- Steam turbines, gas turbines, generators, centrifugal compressors, and industrial pumps.
- Machinery protection loops in industrial sites where environmental exposure demands Type 4X or IP66 sealing.

Installation Guidelines
To establish a proper installation, mount the outer sleeve into the machine case using the 3/4-14 NPT thread. Ensure that proper counterbore is machined into the case if the penetration length is short, to avoid side-view or rear-view interference with the probe tip. Field wiring should be routed through the supplied M20 conduit fitting. Ensure that all conduit paths are sealed to prevent moisture from entering the housing and affecting the electrical terminals inside. Grounding must be established using the integrated stainless steel grounding liner and plate to protect the transducer circuit from industrial noise.
Compliance and Certifications
This assembly complies with the European CE mark and holds several hazardous area approvals when configured with the Multiple Approvals option (Option 28), including ATEX/IECEx and CSA certifications for intrinsically safe (ia) and non-sparking/non-incendive (nA, ec) installations in Class I, Zone 0, 1, and 2 environments. The housing is verified to have an IP66 and Type 4X environmental rating.
