Description
Engineered for high-precision thermal profiling in complex processes, the Omron E5AN-HTAA2HBM-500 AC100-240 provides advanced ramp/soak program control and comprehensive system diagnostics. This 1/4 DIN panel-mount controller features a high-speed sampling rate of 60 milliseconds and universal sensor inputs, enabling highly responsive and accurate control loop performance. Outfitted with advanced event inputs and heater burnout detection, this unit ensures rapid fault isolation in automated industrial heating systems.
Key Features
-
Universal Input Capability: Directly accepts thermocouple, platinum resistance thermometer (RTD), analog voltage, and current loop inputs.
-
Program Control (Ramp/Soak): Supports multi-pattern programming for complex thermal profiles and automated processing sequences.
-
Heater Burnout & SSR Failure Diagnostics: Dual-channel current transformer (CT) inputs detect partial heater failure and solid-state relay faults before process failure occurs.
-
Three-Color Display: Large, highly visible digital process variable (PV) display that changes color (red, green, yellow) based on status or alarm thresholds.
-
Robust Physical Build: standard 96 x 96 mm form factor with an IP66 rated front faceplate for dust and water resistance in harsh plant environments.
Applications
- Industrial heat treatment furnaces, kilns, and multi-zone ovens.
- Plastic extrusion machines, blow molders, and injection molding units.
- Semiconductor fabrication chambers requiring precise thermal ramping.
- Pasteurizers, autoclaves, and packaging lines in food processing.

Empirical Engineering Insights
Alternative Models & Compatibility: The "HT" designation denotes a program-capable controller. When swapping with standard "H" models (such as E5AN-HAA2HBM), verify that program ramp/soak profiles are deactivated or convert them back to a static setpoint. Ensure the auxiliary output assignments match exactly, as the E5AN-H series features dedicated mapping configurations.
Application Pitfalls & Engineering Notes: When utilising the Heater Burnout (HB) detection function, set the control output cycle time to at least 1 second when using a solid-state relay. Rapid switching below 1 second can result in false heater burnout alarms because the controller's internal CT measurement routine requires a minimum duration of current flow to evaluate the load current.
Commissioning & Wiring Tips: In high-noise electrical panels containing high-power AC drives, run the temperature sensor input lines using twisted-shielded pair cables. Earth the shield at the control panel chassis ground plate only. For long RTD sensor lines, configure the input filter time constant parameter (INF) to minimize process variable fluctuations.
Installation Guidelines
CRITICAL WARNING: Prior to attempting any physical installation, mounting, or wiring modifications on this controller, verify that the main power supply and all associated control loop inputs/outputs are completely de-energized. Failure to isolate power can result in electrical shock or catastrophic damage to the universal input circuitry.
1
Insert the E5AN controller body through the 92 x 92 mm panel cutout from the front of the enclosure.
2
Slide the provided mounting adapters along the side tracks of the housing from behind the panel until they click securely against the panel surface. Tighten the mounting screws evenly to maintain the front panel IP66 environmental seal.
3
Wire the input sensor, control outputs, and power lines according to the specified terminal diagram. Use crimped fork terminals or ring terminals to ensure robust mechanical connections.
