Tutto sui PLC: la CPU
A practical engineering guide to PLC CPU operation, from deterministic scan cycles and I/O image tables to memory, communications, diagnostics, redundancy, processor sizing, and reliable system...
Designed to extend the physical command interface of 15-inch HMI terminals, the Beckhoff C9900-E899 mounts seamlessly to the right side of compatible control panels and panel PCs. This rugged push-button extension provides a bridge between tactile physical controls and digital industrial networks. Engineered specifically for CP6x23-00xx and CP7x23-00xx control panels, it enables local operation and monitoring without requiring a full integrated keyboard. The unit transmits button states over a single USB interface while maintaining physical terminal connections for safety-critical hardware circuits.
| Manufacturer | Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG |
| Model Number | C9900-E899 |
| Compatibility | 15-inch CP6x23-00xx and CP7x23-00xx Panels and Panel PCs |
| Mounting Location | Right side of control panel |
| Push-Buttons | 20 x Siemens Signum square keys (30 x 30 mm) with signal lamps |
| Emergency Stop | 1 x Siemens Signum E-stop, directly wireable |
| Data Interface | USB (transmits first NO contact of push-buttons and lamp controls) |
| Hardwire Interface | Terminal row (for second physical NO contact per button) |
| Product Lifecycle Phase | Service phase (legacy support and direct hardware replacements) |
| Shipping Weight | 5.0 kg |
Because this module is currently in its service phase, verify mechanical alignment of retrofitted panels. This extension is engineered specifically for CP6x23 and CP7x23 series 15-inch displays lacking physical keypads; standard keypadded models (such as CP6x13 or CP7x13 series) do not support the chassis mounting tracks of the C9900-E899.
Do not route safety critical control loops through the USB connection. Although button presses are transmitted over USB, Windows or real-time OS lag can disrupt signal transmission. Always use the built-in secondary terminal row for physical safety logic, interlocking systems, or critical cycle-stop commands.
When wiring the terminal row, use shielded control cables to prevent electrical noise coupling into the USB controller PCB. Ensure the panel grounding terminal is connected to the central low-impedance PE busbar to avoid USB connection drops caused by local industrial static charge.
De-energize all primary machine lines, supply voltages, and external safety contacts before mounting or wiring the hardware. Failure to do so can result in electrical shock, machine damage, or unexpected automated startups.
Align the C9900-E899 extension unit against the right mounting channel of the CP6x23 or CP7x23 15-inch display frame.
Securely fasten the mechanical retaining brackets according to the panel manual specifications, ensuring the seal remains continuous to preserve IP ingress protection ratings.
Connect the integrated USB interface cable to one of the dedicated internal or external USB ports on the Beckhoff Panel controller.
Wire the Emergency Stop button contacts directly to your local master safety relay circuit via the dedicated terminal blocks.
