Product Description

Description

The GE Multilin 750-P5-G5-S5-HI-A20-G-E Feeder Management Relay is a digital relay intended for the management and primary protection and control of distribution feeders. The 750-P5-G5-S5-HI-A20-G-E provides comprehensive protection functions for feeders and backup protection for bus, transformers, and transmission lines in a draw-out construction. Equipment capabilities include phase, neutral, ground, and sensitive ground overcurrent protection, voltage and frequency monitoring, along with directional overcurrent control elements. The unit features 5 A phase current inputs, 5 A ground current inputs, a 5 A sensitive ground current input, high-range control power, eight 4–20 mA analog outputs, a green breaker closed LED, and an enhanced display with a 10BaseT Ethernet option. Integrated networking interfaces support ModBus RTU, DNP 3.0 Level 2, and ModBus RTU over TCP/IP protocols to interface with SCADA, DCS, or PLC systems.

Features

  • Draw-out Construction: Simplifies device installation, testing, and minimizes replacement downtime.
  • Advanced Current Protection: Integrates directional phase, neutral, ground, and sensitive ground time and instantaneous overcurrent elements.
  • Integrated Ethernet Interface: Includes a 10BaseT Ethernet option alongside standard RS232, RS485, and RS422 serial communications ports.
  • Versatile Analog Outputs: Configured with eight isolated 4–20 mA analog output channels driven by programmable measured parameters.
  • High-Range Power Supply: Accepts high-range control power inputs covering 88–300 VDC and 70–265 VAC at 48–62 Hz.
  • Comprehensive Monitoring: Offers built-in fault locator, oscillography waveform capture, event recording for up to 256 events, and data logging capabilities.

Applications

  • Primary protection and control for distribution feeders on solidly grounded, high impedance grounded, or resonant grounded systems.
  • Bus blocking/interlocking schemes and bus transfer schemes.
  • Backup protection for transmission lines, feeders, transformers, and buses.
  • High-speed fault detection for arc flash mitigation.
  • Load shedding schemes based on voltage and frequency elements.
  • Distributed Generation (DG) interconnect protection.

Installation Guidelines

  • Ensure safety grounding by connecting the terminal ground directly to the switchgear safety ground mat.
  • Shielded twisted-pair cabling must be used for RS485, RS422, and analog signal lines, with cable shields grounded at the PLC/computer end only.
  • CT inputs feature automatic shorting terminals to prevent open CT circuits during draw-out operations.
  • Verify proper polarity and voltage levels when connecting control power to terminals H11 and H12.
  • Wire the self-test warning output relay as fail-safe; terminals E12 and F12 open when control power is applied and no self-test warnings are present.
