Description

The General Electric IC693MDL310 is a 120 VAC, 0.5 Amp discrete solid-state AC output module designed for the GE Fanuc Series 90-30 programmable logic controller system. It provides 12 output circuits organized into two isolated groups of six points each. Because each group incorporates an independent common connection that is electrically separated from the other inside the module, the groups can operate on distinct phases of an AC power source or draw from a single shared supply.

Each output circuit integrates an RC snubber network to suppress power line transient noise and voltage spikes. The module provides high inrush current tolerance rated at up to 10 times continuous load current (5 Amps peak for one AC cycle), allowing direct operation of inductive and incandescent loads such as contactors, motor starters, indicator lamps, and solenoids. Field power to energize output loads must be provided externally by the user.

The IC693MDL310 installs into any standard I/O slot of a 5-slot or 10-slot Series 90-30 baseplate, including CPU baseplates, expansion baseplates, and remote baseplates. The hinged faceplate door contains an insert card that provides internal terminal wiring diagrams on the reverse side and user identification labeling on the outer surface, bordered by a red edge to designate high-voltage AC field wiring.

Features

  • 12 solid-state AC outputs partitioned into two isolated groups of 6 circuits each.
  • Independent common terminals per group allowing connection to separate AC supply phases.
  • Individual RC snubber suppression on each output point for transient protection.
  • High inrush capability rated at 5 Amps for one line cycle to drive inductive loads.
  • Individual 3 Amp protection fuse per group.
  • Front-panel LED diagnostics featuring 12 green status indicators and 1 red blown-fuse indicator.
  • Hinged front door with high-voltage red color code and terminal assignment reference.

Installation and Wiring Guidelines

  • Turn off power to the baseplate and field circuits prior to inserting or removing the module or servicing fuses.
  • Ensure field AC power is routed through appropriate external disconnects, as the module does not supply output power from the backplane.
  • Group 1 uses points A1 through A6, while Group 2 uses points B1 through B6; do not bridge the respective commons if groups operate on differing AC phases.
  • Route high-voltage AC field wiring separately from low-voltage DC communication and analog signal cables to minimize inductive coupling.
  • Inspect the red "F" LED indicator during runtime to quickly identify an open fuse condition in either group.

FAQ

What is the primary function of the General Electric IC693MDL310?

The IC693MDL310 is a 12-point discrete AC output module that provides solid-state 120 VAC switching at up to 0.5 Amps per point for loads connected to a GE Fanuc Series 90-30 PLC system.

How are the output points isolated and powered on the IC693MDL310?

The module's 12 outputs are arranged into two isolated groups of six points each. Each group has its own isolated common terminal, allowing the two groups to be powered from separate AC supply phases or connected to the same source.

What are the maximum current ratings for the IC693MDL310 module?

Each point supports up to 0.5 Amps maximum. Per group, maximum current is rated at 2.0 Amps at 50 degC (122 degF) and derates to 1.0 Amp at 60 degC (140 degF). The peak inrush rating is 5.0 Amps for one line cycle.

How does the IC693MDL310 indicate blown fuse conditions?

The module features a red LED labeled 'F' positioned between its green status indicator rows. If either of the internal 3 Amp group fuses opens, the red 'F' indicator illuminates to notify maintenance personnel.

Which Series 90-30 slots are compatible with the IC693MDL310?

The IC693MDL310 can be installed in any standard I/O slot of a Series 90-30 5-slot or 10-slot baseplate, including CPU baseplates, expansion baseplates, and remote baseplates.
