Yes. The 8C-PCNT03 is the direct replacement for the 8C-PCNT02. It can be installed on the same IOTA and is compatible with all current and previous Experion software releases.

What is the difference between 8C-PCNT03 and 8C-PCNT05?

The 8C-PCNT03 supports both new and legacy Experion releases, making it ideal for maintenance and upgrades of existing systems. The 8C-PCNT05 is the newest version (V5) and only supports Experion R520 and later; notably, the 03 and 05 versions are not interoperable in a redundant pair.

Does this controller support peer-to-peer communication?

Yes. The C300 CEE supports high-speed peer-to-peer communication with other C300 controllers over the FTE network, as well as communication with specialty modules like Foundation Fieldbus and Profibus.

  • Network Wiring: Use only Honeywell-certified shielded Ethernet cables for FTE connections. Ensure that the "Yellow" and "Green" cables are connected to their respective ports on the IOTA to maintain the integrity of the Fault Tolerant Ethernet logic.

  • Thermal Management: The 8C-PCNT03 relies on the Series 8 vertical design for natural convection. Ensure the cabinet has sufficient ventilation and that the 150 mm clearance rule is observed above and below the IOTA row to prevent the processor from overheating.
