Description

The ABB IMASM01 Analog Slave Module is a high-level analog input interface designed for use within the INFI 90 Process Management System. Functioning in conjunction with an Analog Master Module such as the IMAMM03, the IMASM01 conditions and routes process field analog input signals to the master module via the slave expander bus.

The module interfaces up to 16 individual high-level analog signals divided into two distinct input groups of eight channels each. Field process signals are directed to the module through system cable connections to associated termination units or modules, such as the NTAI05 or NIAI04. Onboard group address switches and enable/disable jumpers allow flexible system integration and address selection within a Process Control Unit (PCU) rack.

Features

  • Interfaces up to 16 high-level analog input channels across two independent 8-channel input groups.
  • Direct compatibility with the IMAMM03 Analog Master Module via the slave expander bus.
  • Onboard dipswitches for setting independent group addresses (0 to 7) for each 8-channel group.
  • Dedicated enable/disable jumpers for each input group to prevent address conflicts.
  • Integrated input filtering circuits providing normal mode and common mode noise rejection.
  • Supports live insertion and removal without powering down the entire control system.

Applications

  • Industrial DCS process control and monitoring in power generation, chemical, and refining plants.
  • High-level analog signal interface for transmitters and field devices (4 to 20 mA and 0 to 10 VDC loops).
  • Input expansion for INFI 90 Process Control Units (PCUs).

P3 Edge Connector Interfaces to field input wiring via termination unit/module cables (NKTU01/02 or NKTM01)

Installation Guidelines

  • ESD Protection: Always wear a grounded wrist strap and handle the card by its edges when inserting or removing it from the rack.
  • Address Configuration: Set group address dipswitches S1 (inputs 9-16) and S2 (inputs 1-8) to unique group addresses (0 to 7) prior to installation.
  • Group Enable/Disable: Set jumpers JP1 (inputs 1-8) and JP2 (inputs 9-16) to position B to enable a group, or position A to disable an unused group to prevent dual-addressing conflicts.
  • Slave Expander Bus: Ensure 12-strap dipshunts are installed in the MMU backplane sockets between the master module and associated slave modules.
  • Module Mounting: Align the module card edges with the guide rails in the Module Mounting Unit (MMU) slot and slide in until flush with the rack frame; tighten the two captive faceplate screws.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CSA certified for use as process control equipment in an ordinary (nonhazardous) location.
