Description

The 1734-OE2C is a 24V DC, 2-channel analog current output module designed for the Allen-Bradley POINT I/O system. The unit converts digital output data into 4...20 mA or 0...20 mA analog current signals to control field devices in industrial automation environments. Operating via the internal field power bus, the module produces 2 bytes of input data with fault status information and consumes 4 bytes of output data across the backplane. It communicates via DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, ControlNet, or EtherNet/IP adapters.

Features

  • Provides 2 single-ended, non-isolated analog current outputs.
  • Field-configurable output ranges of 4...20 mA or 0...20 mA.
  • 13-bit output resolution over 0...21 mA.
  • Features local status indicators for module status, network status, and individual output channel status.
  • Mounts into compatible two-piece or one-piece POINT I/O terminal bases.
  • Supports removable terminal blocks (RTB) to allow module replacement without disconnecting field wiring.

Applications

  • Industrial process automation and field device control
  • Current loop signal generation (0...20 mA / 4...20 mA)
  • Distributed I/O systems using POINT I/O architecture
  • Control valve and actuator positioning

Installation Guidelines

  • DIN Rail Mounting: Mount the assembly onto a zinc-plated chromate-passivated steel DIN rail to maintain appropriate chassis grounding. Anchor the DIN rail approximately every 200 mm (7.8 in.).
  • Keyswitch Configuration: Set the mechanical keyswitch on the terminal base to position 4 prior to installing the module.
  • DIN Rail Locking Screw: Ensure the DIN rail locking screw is in the horizontal position before attempting module installation.
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Prevention: Discharge static electricity by touching a grounded object or wearing an approved grounding wriststrap prior to handling module components.
  • Clearance Requirements: Maintain a minimum clearance of 2.54 cm (1.0 in.) above the module for proper ventilation.
  • Wiring Requirements: Use 0.25...2.5 mm2 (22...14 AWG) shielded copper wire rated for at least 75 degC with a maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm (3/64 in.).
