Description

The Allen-Bradley 2094-BM02-M is a Kinetix 6200 modular multi-axis servo drive designed to provide Integrated Motion capability for motor or drive applications. As an Axis Module (AM), it operates with 460V three-phase nominal drive voltage (360–480V AC input) and features a 15A inverter section. This module requires one control module and operates in conjunction with an Integrated Axis Module (IAM) power module on a shared power rail system.

Engineered for seamless architectural transitions, the 2094-BM02-M allows systems to transition smoothly from Safe Torque Off to Safe Speed Monitor functionalities, and migrate from SERCOS interfaces to EtherNet/IP networks. It maintains full compatibility with the Kinetix 6000 servo drive family, enabling clean hardware migration whenever application requirements advance. The embedded safety design eliminates the need for an external safety monitor, reducing hardware layout footprints and simplifying wiring architectures. Crucially, the Safe Speed Monitor feature permits crucial machine maintenance work without necessitating a complete machine shutdown, maximizing uptime, minimizing energy and production waste, and boosting overall operating efficiency.

Features

  • Modular Multi-Axis Architecture: Integrates easily onto a shared 2094 power rail alongside an IAM module, minimizing spare parts inventory and wiring complexity.
  • Advanced Embedded Safety: Integrated safety functions eliminate external safety modules while providing comprehensive personnel protection.
  • Comprehensive Safety Suite: Supports Safe Torque Off, Safe Speed Monitor, Safe Maximum Speed, Safe Maximum Acceleration Monitoring, Safe Direction Monitoring, Zero Speed Monitoring, Enabling Switch Control, and Door Monitoring and Control.
  • Network & Interface Flexibility: Enables direct migration path between SERCOS interface and EtherNet/IP communication networks.
  • Enhanced Diagnostics: Features an onboard diagnostic display that communicates the exact nature of system faults via descriptive error messages.

Applications

  • Multi-axis industrial servo motor controls
  • Automated assembly lines and packaging systems
  • Material handling and continuous production machinery
  • Integrated motion control over SERCOS and EtherNet/IP networks
  • Maintenance-heavy automated zones requiring Safe Speed monitoring

Installation Guidelines

  • Power Rail Mounting: The module must be installed on a compatible Bulletin 2094 power rail. Hang the module's mounting bracket from the slot on the power rail and align the rear guide pins carefully before tightening the mounting screws to 2.26 N•m (20 lb•in) torque.
  • High-Frequency (HF) Bonding: Ensure proper HF bonding of the power rail and enclosures to a central subpanel ground point to mitigate electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI).
  • Grounding Requirements: Utilize the provided 100 mm (3.9 in.) braided copper ground strap to connect the power rail or mounting brackets to the bonded cabinet chassis ground bus. All electrical ground paths must conform strictly to local regulations and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Cable Management & Shielding: Copper wires with a minimum rating of 75 degC must be used for power connections. Securely fasten all motor power cable shields using the designated shield clamp assembly to minimize stray electrical noise.
  • Enclosure Clearance: Maintain recommended structural clearances around the drive power rail assembly to allow adequate vertical air flow and thermal cooling within the cabinet.
