Description

The 2711P-RP1X is a logic module family for Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 700 to 1500 terminals. It attaches to the rear of the display module and provides the terminal processing, memory, communication, firmware, and operating-system functions.

The logic module includes 64 MB internal CompactFlash memory and 64 MB RAM. Its external connections include an Ethernet port, a serial port, two USB ports, and a CompactFlash card slot. Status indicators provide operating information for the installed terminal.

The official installation document uses 2711P-RP1x as the family designation. Individual module revisions are identified by their series suffix.

Installation Guidelines

  • Disconnect all power from the terminal before installing or replacing the module.
  • Disconnect all power and communication cables before module removal.
  • Wear a properly grounded ESD wristband.
  • Work in a static-free environment.
  • Avoid touching exposed electronic components.
  • Install the RAM and internal CompactFlash before attaching the logic module when supplied separately.
  • Place the display module face-down on a clean, flat, stable surface.
  • Align the two logic-module connectors with the display-module connectors.
  • Press the logic module down until it is firmly seated.
  • Tighten the six captive screws to 0.58 N m (5 to 7 lb in).
  • Remove any attached communication module before replacing the logic module.
  • Reinstall the communication module after the logic module is securely mounted.
  • Verify the logic-module series before transferring RAM or internal CompactFlash components.
