Description

Decentralized I/O stations connect to the PROFIBUS network through the BK3010 Bus Coupler, which acts as the communications interface between the modular Beckhoff Bus Terminal system and the PROFIBUS DP fieldbus network. This device automatically handles the transmission of process data from the plug-in K-bus terminals to the higher-level master controller. Up to 64 individual Bus Terminals can be connected to a single coupler station, allowing for highly flexible, customized modular I/O configurations with up to 256 digital input and output channels.

The BK3010 operates with PROFIBUS DP and DPV1 communication protocols, supporting baud rates up to 1.5 Mbaud. System configuration and parameterization can be performed easily using the KS2000 configuration software or directly through the master controller's configuration tool. The integrated power supply unit provides necessary system power to the internal K-bus and separates the fieldbus electronics from the I/O power contacts, ensuring electrical isolation and signal integrity across the automation network.

Features

  • Efficient connection of modular Beckhoff Bus Terminals to PROFIBUS DP/DPV1 fieldbus systems.
  • Supports connection of up to 64 Bus Terminals per station.
  • Handles up to 256 digital input/output signals.
  • Baud rate detection up to 1.5 Mbaud.
  • Integrated K-bus power supply providing up to 500 mA.
  • Configuration via KS2000 software tool or master PLC.
  • IP20-rated compact housing suitable for standard DIN rail mounting.

Connections and Interfaces

Connection Point Function / Signal Description
D-sub 9-pin (Female) PROFIBUS DP fieldbus communication interface
Power Terminals (Top) 24 V DC supply for internal coupler electronics and K-bus
Power Contacts (Middle/Bottom) 24 V DC/AC supply for terminal power distribution (max. 10 A)

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting: Mount horizontally on standard 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715) inside a dry, dust-free control cabinet.
  • Grounding: Ensure the PE power contact makes a reliable low-impedance connection with the DIN rail.
  • Ventilation: Maintain sufficient clearance above and below the module to allow convection cooling. Avoid installation near high heat sources.
  • Wiring: Route the D-sub PROFIBUS cable away from high-voltage motor lines to prevent electromagnetic interference.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CE
  • UL conforming to safety standards
