Description

The BECKHOFF BK7000 is a ControlNet Bus Coupler designed to connect ControlNet networks with the modular electronic terminal blocks. Serving as a node in a distributed automation system, this coupler handles the data exchange between the higher-level ControlNet master and the connected Bus Terminals. It automatically detects connected Bus Terminals during the boot-up phase and establishes the local K-bus communication structure, mapping the peripheral signals into the internal process image.

Equipped with dual BNC female connectors and a programming port (NAP), the BK7000 integrates seamlessly into industrial communication architectures. It supports up to 64 Bus Terminals natively, with extension capabilities allowing connection to larger signal groupings. Power distribution is managed through integrated power contacts, supplying both the internal electronics and the field level efficiently while maintaining electrical isolation between the communication interface, field-side supply, and system levels.

Features

  • Connects ControlNet fieldbus networks to modular BECKHOFF Bus Terminals
  • Supports up to 64 Bus Terminals directly, expandable via K-bus extension terminals
  • Handles up to 512 bytes of input and 512 bytes of output data over ControlNet
  • Processes up to 512 digital peripheral signals and 256 analog peripheral signals
  • Data transfer rate of 5 Mbaud on the ControlNet interface
  • Dual BNC female connectors and NAP (Network Access Port) for communication and configuration
  • Configurable via the KS2000 configuration software interface
  • Integrated 24 V DC power contacts rated for up to 10 A

Applications

  • Distributed machinery and plant automation utilizing ControlNet architectures
  • Modular machine building requiring high-density digital and analog signal acquisition
  • Control cabinet installations interfacing PLC systems with modular I/O islands
  • Industrial manufacturing lines requiring reliable deterministic fieldbus communication

Installation Guidelines

  1. Ensure all system power supplies are de-energized and locked out before beginning mechanical or electrical installation.
  2. Inspect the BK7000 unit and standard DIN rail for physical damage or contamination.
  3. Mount the Bus Coupler securely onto the 35 mm DIN rail by snapping it into position alongside the terminal assembly.
  4. Connect the ControlNet network cables to the BNC female connectors using appropriate coaxial cabling practices.
  5. Connect the 24 V DC supply voltage to the designated power contact terminals, observing correct polarity and fusing limits (≤ 10 A).
  6. Verify that the K-bus connection to the adjacent Bus Terminals is properly seated and locked.
  7. Apply power and verify operational LED status indicators prior to system commissioning.
