Description

Designed as an autonomous, high-performance PLC with an integrated Ethernet port, the Beckhoff BX9000 Bus Terminal Controller bridges decentralized I/O systems and higher-level networks. This compact controller executes complex control programs locally while processing communication tasks independently. Programmed using the standardized TwinCAT system in accordance with IEC 61131-3, the module ensures flexible, modular architecture for a broad range of industrial Automation setups.

The unit features extensive local memory capacities, including 256 kB of program memory and 256 kB of data memory, with additional remanent and persistent data allocation. Up to 64 local Bus Terminals connect directly to the system block, with expansion up to 255 terminals possible via the integrated K-bus extension. For diagnostic operations, it provides an illuminated FSTN display, status LEDs, and a mechanical joystick switch for localized menu navigation and system diagnostics.

Features

  • Versatile Programming: Configurable via TwinCAT over the network Ethernet interface or the dedicated serial programming connection.
  • Multi-Language Execution: Fully compliant with IEC 61131-3 standards (IL, LD, FBD, SFC, ST).
  • Robust Connectivity: Equipped with an RJ45 Ethernet interface (10/100 Mbit/s auto-baud rate), dual serial ports (RS232 and RS485), and an integrated CANopen-based Smart System Bus (SSB).
  • Local HMI Interface: Integrated 2 x 16 character backlit FSTN display paired with a navigational joystick for real-time local parameters.
  • Flexible Expansion: Seamlessly manages up to 255 individual Bus Terminals using K-bus extension accessories.
  • Time Tracking: Contains an onboard battery-backed real-time clock for system-wide time-stamping.

Applications

  • Distributed plant automation and localized process control systems.
  • Substation diagnostic nodes and monitoring stations in utility networks.
  • Machine-level PLC control with upstream Ethernet TCP/IP supervisory communication.

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting: Mount directly on a standard 35 mm DIN rail conforming to EN 60715 using the integrated lock mechanism.
  • Positioning: Variable mounting orientation is acceptable. Utilize the built-in double slot and key connection for reliable side-by-side terminal mounting.
  • Terminal Wiring: To insert or remove connection wires, actuate the terminal springs by applying pressure with a standard screwdriver.
  • Thermal Considerations: Maintain free air convection clearance inside the electrical cabinet to keep operating conditions below the +55 Celsius threshold.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CE
  • UL
