Description

Designed for seamless integration with CP6xxx and CP7xxx Control Panels, the Beckhoff C9900-E905 provides a robust, right-side mounted operator interface expansion for 15-inch industrial displays lacking integrated keyboards. This push-button extension unit streamlines field operations by placing physical control elements directly adjacent to the visualization interface, facilitating rapid and tactile operator response in complex manufacturing environments.

The unit features 12 square Siemens Signum push-buttons equipped with integrated signal lamps, allowing for both input command and status feedback. For safety-critical functions, a dedicated Siemens Signum emergency stop button is mounted on the assembly. Signal transmission is highly flexible: all standard push-buttons feature dual-contact capabilities, allowing primary commands to travel via digital CP-Link or USB interfaces while simultaneously supporting direct wiring of a secondary normally-open (NO) contact via an integrated terminal row. The integrated emergency stop key bypasses interface electronics and is designed strictly for direct, hardwired integration into the system safety circuit.

Features

  • Right-Hand Panel Mounting: Engineered specifically for mounting on the right side of compatible 15-inch Beckhoff Panel PCs and Control Panels.
  • Tactile Operator Interface: Features 12 Siemens Signum square (30 x 30 mm) push-buttons with integrated status indicator lamps.
  • Safety Integration: Includes 1 Siemens Signum emergency stop button designed for direct wiring to safety relays or fail-safe controllers.
  • Dual-Channel Transmission: Supports simultaneous digital transmission (via CP-Link or USB) and hardwired terminal connection for push-button contacts.
  • Customizable Labeling: Clear, removable caps on the push-buttons allow for easy insertion of custom labels and functional designations.

Applications

  • Machine tool control stations requiring physical override switches.
  • Automotive assembly lines utilizing 15-inch Panel PCs.
  • Heavy industrial environments demanding redundant physical and digital control paths.
  • Process manufacturing systems with localized safety circuit requirements.

Installation Guidelines

  • Mechanical Alignment: Ensure the mounting gasket is correctly positioned between the 15-inch control panel and the C9900-E905 extension to maintain the designated ingress protection rating.
  • Direct Wiring: Route the emergency stop wiring and the secondary NO terminal connections through separate, noise-shielded conduits away from high-power motor cabling.
  • Power & Grounding: Verify that the host panel has a low-impedance connection to the machine ground before establishing USB or CP-Link communication paths.

Which specific panels is the Beckhoff C9900-E905 compatible with?

The C9900-E905 is designed specifically for Beckhoff CP6x21-00xx and CP7x21-00xx Control Panels and Panel PCs with 15-inch displays that do not have integrated keyboards.

Does the emergency stop button route its safety signal over USB?

No. For safety compliance, the Siemens Signum emergency stop button bypasses the USB/CP-Link transmission and must be directly wireable to an external safety circuit via the dedicated terminal row.

How are the push-button signals transmitted to the controller?

They feature dual-channel transmission: the first normally-open (NO) contact is sent digitally via CP-Link or USB, while a second NO contact can be hardwired directly to PLC I/O through an onboard terminal block.

Can the signal lamps be wired directly to terminal blocks?

No, the signal lamps inside the 12 Siemens Signum push-buttons can only be controlled and transmitted via the digital CP-Link or USB connection.
