The CX5130-0122 is positioned within the CX5100 series as a dual-core alternative to the single-core CX5120 and the quad-core CX5140. It operates at TwinCAT 3 Platform Level 40 (Performance). Ensure that your TwinCAT runtime licenses are compiled specifically for Platform Level 40 to avoid deployment errors.
The integrated 1-second UPS relies on internal capacitive storage to write up to 1 MB of persistent data to the CFast card. If the CFast card is replaced with a non-industrial grade card lacking high write-endurance, or if the FB_S_UPS function block is not properly called in the TwinCAT PLC project, persistent data will not be saved during a power loss.
When transitioning between E-bus and K-bus terminals, ensure the system is completely powered down. The CX5130 automatically detects the bus type on startup. If the bus terminal line is not terminated with an end terminal (such as KL9010 or EL9011), the CPU will flag a bus error and refuse to enter Run mode.
DANGER: HIGH RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND COMPONENT DAMAGE. Always isolate all 24 V DC power sources before mounting, wiring, or inserting/removing CFast cards. Failure to de-energize the system can corrupt the operating system image on the flash media or damage the internal E-bus/K-bus interface circuitry.
Mount the CX5130 vertically on a standard 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715), ensuring at least 30 mm of free space above and below the unit for natural convection cooling.
Connect the functional ground terminal directly to the low-impedance system ground plane to minimize electromagnetic interference.
Insert a compatible, pre-configured Beckhoff CFast card containing the operating system and TwinCAT runtime into the designated slot.
Wire the 24 V DC power supply to the power input terminals, verifying correct polarity before switching on the main breaker.
