Description

The BECKHOFF EJ3058 is an 8-channel analog input plug-in module designed for direct installation on application-specific signal distribution boards. Part of the compact EJ series, this module is optimized for mass production machinery, enabling quick assembly and reducing point-to-point wiring errors. It is configured to acquire single-ended analog current signals in the standard 4 to 20 mA range with high density and accuracy.

The module processes raw analog signals with a 12-bit physical resolution, which is transmitted to the higher-level controller in a 16-bit representation including the sign. Configurable process parameters, including selectable digital filters (FIR/IIR) and limit value monitoring, allow control engineers to fine-tune signal acquisition for specific mechanical systems. The module remains electrically isolated up to 500 V between the internal E-bus and the field-side potential to maintain signal integrity in demanding industrial environments.

Installation Guidelines

1. Ensure the system and all external supply lines are fully de-energized before mounting or servicing.
2. Inspect the plug-in connection pins on the rear of the EJ3058 module for straightness and cleanliness before insertion.
3. Align the module carefully with the pin sockets on the custom-designed signal distribution board.
4. Press the module down evenly until the mechanical retaining elements seat properly to ensure a reliable electrical connection.
5. Configure the signal parameters, filters, and limit values within the TwinCAT System Manager software environment.
