Product Description

Description

The BECKHOFF EL3204 is a high-precision 4-channel analog input EtherCAT Terminal designed for direct connection of resistance temperature detectors (RTDs). This terminal operates in 2-wire technology, allowing for reliable and space-efficient temperature measurement across diverse industrial automation environments.

Equipped with a highly configurable microprocessor, the BECKHOFF EL3204 linearizes signals across the entire operating temperature range. It supports a broad array of sensor types, including popular Pt and Ni series standards, as well as direct resistance/potentiometer measurements. Internal digitizing is executed with a high 16-bit resolution to ensure precise process data transmission to the controller.

This compact 12 mm terminal is powered directly via the E-bus, eliminating the need for external field-side supply connections. With integrated diagnostics, a configurable digital filter, and limit value monitoring, the terminal provides a robust and highly integrated temperature measurement interface within any EtherCAT network architecture.

Features

  • Supports four independent temperature channels using 2-wire connection technology.
  • Compatible with Pt100, Pt200, Pt500, Pt1000, Ni100, Ni120, Ni1000, and KTY sensor curves.
  • Offers a generic resistance measurement function for potentiometers and sensor elements up to 4 kOhm.
  • High-resolution 16-bit analog-to-digital conversion yielding 0.1 degC per digit.
  • Configurable conversion times from 2 ms to 800 ms (default setting at approximately 85 ms).
  • Complete electrical isolation of 500 V between the E-bus and the measurement channel electronics.
  • Integrated digital filtering and software-configurable limit-value monitoring.

Applications

  • Industrial thermal regulation and climate control systems.
  • Motor, bearing, and winding temperature monitoring in drive systems.
  • Process instrumentation requiring multi-channel resistance temperature measurements.
  • Thermal management within modular EtherCAT control platforms.
