The BECKHOFF ELX3204 is a high-precision, 4-channel analog input terminal designed for direct temperature measurement using resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) in hazardous locations. This intrinsically safe (Ex i) EtherCAT Terminal enables sensors located in explosive atmospheres—such as Zone 0/20 or Zone 1/21—to be wired directly to the I/O system, eliminating the need for external barriers or isolation amplifiers.
Equipped with 16-bit resolution, the BECKHOFF ELX3204 delivers highly accurate temperature signals back to the controller. It supports a broad range of standard resistance-based sensors, including platinum and nickel RTDs, as well as direct resistance measurements. Power for the E-bus and the internal electronics is managed safely through the EtherCAT Terminal system in conjunction with an ELX9560 power supply terminal, ensuring electrical safety and signal isolation.
