The BECKHOFF ER1809-0022 is a ruggedized 16-channel digital input EtherCAT Box designed for direct field acquisition of binary control signals. Housed in a heavy-duty zinc die-cast enclosure with an IP65, IP66, or IP67 protection rating, this module is built to withstand harsh industrial environments without requiring an additional protective control cabinet. It interfaces directly with sensors, acquiring state signals and transmitting them with low latency to the higher-level EtherCAT controller.
The module features eight M12 female sockets, with each connector accepting two independent 24 V DC digital inputs. The inputs correspond to EN 61131-2 Type 1/3 specifications and incorporate a 3.0 ms input filter to suppress contact bounce and external noise. Power for the connected sensors is sourced directly from the control voltage supply, with short-circuit protection implemented across all channels.
System communication is established via two M8 sockets, providing a high-performance EtherCAT interface with integrated diagnostic and status capabilities. For field-side power distribution, the ER1809-0022 includes standardized M8 power connections, allowing control voltage to be easily looped through to downstream modules.
